Key value table intersections

Is there no way to create an intersection type here?

---@generic T: table<any, any>
---@param target T
---@param ... T
---@return T
function table_assign(target, ...)
	local args = {...}
	for i = 1, #args do
		for key, value in pairs(args[i]) do target[key] = value end
	end
	return target
end

local a, b = {foo = 5}, {bar = 6}
local c = table_assign({}, a, b) -- treated as empty table

If I could at least cast it with some:

---@type Typeof<a> & Typeof<b>
local c = ...

From reading the docs, I guess none of this is possible?

I am not aware of a great solution, but you could use classes.
